Back in early September, Heaps Decent spent a couple of Tuesdays at the Glebe Youth Center.
We were invited to be part of Girlzone; a girl’s only program run by the  City of Sydney and Elsie’s Women’s Refuge. Girlzone is designed to get young women to take part in fun activities designed to provide some living skills development. Fun activities can also mean MUSIC!
Over three weeks, Heaps Decent set up a bunch of computers, keyboards and microphones, to show the girls what they could do in a short amount of time. Some of the older girls already had production experience (and raps written!), so it was a great insight into the younger, Glebe-centered music scene.
Thanks to all the ladies involved (especially Cheree for the hook up!), the girls participating and all the HEAPS CREW for coming down; including Levins, Nina, Wax Motif, Pablo Calamari and His Majesty Andre.
We look forward to going back!
